Introduction

WELCOME to Urban Challenge 2024! – Movie Madness!

We hope you are just as excited as we are to journey through some fantastic cinematic master pieces on this journey!

You should have your teams sorted, so here are some general rules and guidelines for the camp. Remember that you are in public representing Scouts Queensland so put your best foot forward.

  • Stay in your teams to ensure your safety throughout the weekend.
  • Ensure you tap your GoCard on and off on all public transport.
  • Be respectful of the environment and around you by not littering or damaging property.
  • If you are in need of assistance, go to the nearest activity base or contact the relevant event team member.
  • Stay within the allocated areas of the school grounds at all times whilst on site.
  • Hats, sunscreen and lanyards MUST be worn at all times!
  • Please ensure you are wearing appropriate clothing at all times including shirts with sleeves and comfortable enclosed shoes. This requires a lot of walking in the sun, so please slip, slop, slap!
  • Make sure you drink lots of water as it will be hot.
  • Once you leave site in the morning you will not be back on site until the close of activities – so bring everything you may need with you!
  • Do not use ride sharing apps like Uber or DiDi as these present a risk to your safety. This also includes ordering Uber Eats.

For anyone seen not following these rules, may lose points or face further consequences.

Hints, Tips and Tricks

  • Plan your day out. Whilst we tell you which base to visit first, plan your day so you can get to as many as possible.
  • Stop and have a drink of water and a snack regularly.
  • Work as a team. You’re being scored on your teamwork so it could be the thing that wins you the event.
  • Rotate who is the team leader at each base, to give equal opportunity for each person to lead.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
  • Use map software to your advantage. Work smarter not harder. There may be multiple routes to your location.
  • Allow yourself enough time to get from your last base to the Saturday dinner site or HQ by the allocated time.

Scoring

Each base is scored out of 100.
20% for Teamwork, 10% for Leadership, and 70% for Skill.

Keep your eye out for Bonus Points that can be awarded.
